Situation
Allison’s first customer for its new electric hybrid propulsion system eGen Flex® for transit buses was none other than Indianapolis’s own IndyGo public transit authority. This revolutionary technology makes electric-only operation possible for transit fleets, reducing emissions and noise in bus depots and dense population areas.
Solution
To celebrate and drive awareness around the first eGen Flex-equipped IndyGo bus delivery, CVR collaborated with Allison, IndyGo and Downtown Indy to organize and promote an evening bus reveal and press conference event in the heart of downtown Indianapolis. CVR concepted and developed animation assets to create a 3D projection video on a large office building in lead-up to the bus unveiling. Additionally, CVR managed release development, trade and local media outreach and coordinated interviews on-site with Allison leadership.
OUTCOME
CVR Secures National Attention
The strategy and execution helped to position Allison and IndyGo as innovative leaders bringing the latest technology to life for Indianapolis. CVR secured local media coverage from all five major broadcast outlets in Indianapolis including WRTV. WRTV’s story was picked up by Yahoo! News, generating a potential national reach of 29.3 million. In addition, key transit industry trade publications including Bus Ride Magazine, Mass Transit and METRO Magazine covered the announcement.
